Bartlett Kershaw Trott sells only time and expertise. Time and expertise can only be found in people. So people are the most important part of our business. Our employment policies reflect that.
No differentiation An accountant’s firm traditionally has three types of employee: fee-earners, support staff and trainees. At Bartlett Kershaw Trott there is only one type and we call them simply "staff" and we’re proud of them Opportunities
Companies are run by boards of directors on behalf of shareholders but accountancy firms are run by the partners who own them. Bartlett Kershaw Trott’s partners have had wide experience with other firms and other countries with notable achievements along the way.
Structure
Over 60% of Bartlett Kershaw Trott’s staff are qualified accountants and all are skilled in the technology they handle.
The firm has an advanced computer system on a network, each staff member having a terminal. The latest professional software is used in all departments.
Training
Bartlett Kershaw Trott provides training for staff from short half-day release courses in word-processing to two-months intensive build-up for professional exams.
BKT keeps all its staff up-to-date at all times with new developments in the accounting field and, of course, changes in the law, especially taxation by attendance at appropriate courses. In 2008 BKT staff were sent on 148 courses.
Fringe benefits Bartlett Kershaw Trott doesn’t believe in selective fringe benefits which can be divisive in staff relations but it does believe in provision for old age. The firm therefore runs a contributory pension scheme in line with best practice laid down by government. To Complete the Picture
